This policy explains what personal data Couple Tales collects, why, who we share it with, and your rights. We've kept it short and plain.
Who we are
The controller of your data is Couple Tales. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, write to [email protected].
What we collect and why
Account and newsletter. When you sign up, we keep your email address and, if you give it, your name. We use them to give you access to your account, sign you in, and send the newsletter if you chose it. The legal basis is your consent and providing the service you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link at the bottom of every email, and delete your account whenever you like.
Contact form. We keep the name, email and message you send us, only to reply to you.
Support. If you choose to support our work, you do so on Buy Me a Coffee, which handles the payment details. We only receive your email address and the amount. As a thank-you, we use that email to make some additional content available on your account.
Statistics. We count, anonymously and in aggregate, how often each page is opened, read to the end or rated, and whether the reader is a visitor, member or VIP. For this we don't keep your IP address, any identifier, or anything on your device. There is no way to tell who read what.
Couple names. The names you enter to personalise the stories stay only in your browser and are never sent to us. If you share a link with the names, they travel in the part of the address after the #, which browsers don't send to the server.
What the site stores on your device
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. We only store what the site needs to work:

Who we share data with
We use these services to run the site. They only get what they need and are bound to protect it:
- Oracle Cloud (Spain, EU): the server hosting the site and the accounts.
- Brevo (France, EU): sign-in emails and the newsletter.
- Cloudflare (USA): delivering and protecting the site. It sees every visitor's IP address.
- Supabase (Germany, EU): anonymous statistics, ratings and share counts.
- Buy Me a Coffee and Stripe (USA): support for our work.
- jsDelivr and code.jquery.com: serve parts of the site's code and receive your IP address when they load.
- Cloudflare Turnstile (USA): anti-spam check on the contact form. It sees your IP address and browser details.
When data leaves the European Union, it is transferred under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
We don't sell your data and we don't share it for advertising.
How long we keep data
- Account: until you delete it or ask us to.
- Contact messages: up to 12 months after our last exchange.
- Statistics: indefinitely, since they are anonymous.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it, by writing to [email protected]. We reply within one month. Where you gave consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
If you think we have mishandled your data, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Minors
This site is for adults over 18 only. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you know of such a case, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. For important changes, we let registered members know by email.
